Aha! Again and Again, Thanks House Beautiful

Aha!  
I seem to be having a lot of those

 "aha moments" lately.
Or maybe I am just noticing them more
since I began my design blog.

In my so far short, but nevertheless exciting,  enlightening, and very enriching design blogging career, I have been having

 "aha moment" after "aha moment".

I just returned from Blogfest 2012 sponsored by Kravet in New York City.  Blogfest was chock full of  "aha moments", but first just a bit of my design blogging history.

I love stories and sharing.

About a year ago, 
after closing my retail store,
 I decided I wanted to start a design blog.

 I researched and planned. 

 I hired a talented graphic designer

 to design my blog template.

 I made copious lists of blog

 topics and ideas.

I scheduled and publicized my launch date.

Only one thing remained . . .

I had to find my voice.

I tried a little of this, and a little of that, but I wasn't happy with what I was writing until . . .

the September 2011 issue of House Beautiful 
arrived in my mailbox and just in time!

AHA! 

I knew how and why and what 
I was going to write.


It all became crystal clear.

I love Barry Dixon's work, I love birds, and I love pink.  The ideas and the words flowed for my inaugural blog post

Not only was that House Beautiful cover an  epiphany for the voice, tone, and content of my first blog, it started me on my path of seemingly unending "aha moments".

As a result of my design blogging,
 I have found new clients.

An outdoor room I designed for Gardens of Madison County.
Lots of custom work was included and the homeowner became a client.

I love designing tabletops and partyscapes as well.

The outdoor room included custom cushions and pillows,
custom sconces, a custom mantle, and a custom piece made of salvage over the mantle, as well as custom florals throughout.

I have renewed old and inspirational friendships.

My Green Tangerine, a Color Quickie

Isn't this a "feel good",

or maybe I should say a

 "feel better", painting?

These colors really perk me up!

I have been a bit under the weather with that tickly throat,

headachy,

 stuffy head thing

the past several days . . .

Too achy to even write much,

so this post will be what I am calling a

Color Quickie! 

I wish I had this TANGERINE TYPEWRITER!

I have been self-medicating, with extra vitamin C,

the now highly regulated in Mississippi Sudafed,

Advil,

chicken noodle soup, and

what I refer to as

Ginger Ale cocktail -

all the usual suspects.

My ginger ale cocktail of course includes a burst of blast-the-cold

and the winter blahs

CITRUS, orange, Tangerine!

When I don't feel well,

citrusy Tangerine orange 
always perks me up . . .

Lots has been written and blogged about Pantone's perk me up citrus color for 2012,

 Tangerine Tango.

Just looking at bright and lively Tangerine does make me feel better,

I wore Tangerine pumps in the '80's.





I AM feeling a bit better resting and sipping my ginger ale and orange juice cocktail, but SOMETHING is still missing. 

My drink needs a bit more color,
so to speak.

SOMETHING is missing.
I need that little extra zip!

I need lime, lovely zesty Green,
just the zip my drink and
Tangerine need to come alive!

I am JUST a little tired of

seeing and hearing about

JUST Tangerine orange . .

 I REALLY love Tangerine, like it is found in always inspiring nature,

when it is paired WITH glorious Green.

Of course I had to include a tree!





 Dare I pair my Tangerine peep toe shoes with these Green tights like I did in the 80's or shall I just leave my perk me up color combo to the interiors?
